How we make our consultation surveys usable for everyone.
Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to take part in consultations, including people who use a keyboard only, a screen reader, voice control or screen magnification. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we have done
Surveys present one question at a time with clear labels, visible keyboard focus and colour contrast that meets AA. All question types, including the rating scales, the budget allocator and the place-a-pin-on-an-image question, can be operated with the keyboard. The pin question also offers a text box so you can describe your views in words instead of placing pins. Progress and changes are announced to screen readers.
Known limitations
Some images added by consultation teams may not have detailed descriptions. Where an image is central to a question, we provide a text alternative so you can still take part.
Reporting a problem
If you find something you cannot use, please contact the consultation team running the survey. We will do our best to provide the information or take part in another way, and to fix the problem.
